For the record I am pro-love, pro-couple and pro-single, but this is the list I'm asked to make by Lost in Books. If you're feeling bitter this Valentine's Day, these books are for you:
1. "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas - Is any woman worth what Edmond Dantès goes through in this story?
2. "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald - a classic tale of unrequited love
3. "Practical Magic" by Alice Hoffman - anti-love with a twist of girl power
I chose Apertura by Raul Allen for this list because that girl looks like she don't need no man.

Love your list! I made mine a couple weeks ago (I am posting it tomorrow) and Great Gatsby is on mine too!
I adore your list! All 3 are very good books and fit very nicely into this theme.
I am not really anti-Valentine's either. I just wanted a twist on the whole romance theme of the day.
