In 2 weeks I'll be in California on the fastest family vacation of my life.
Day 1: Fly into San Francisco.
Day 2: Go to a wedding in Sacramento.
Day 3: Fly out of San Francisco.
There will be 7 of us in 1 van and we are going to tour the hell out of San Francisco. Everyone has a little something they want to see or do, Golden Gate Bridge, the ocean, a tour of Google, wine tasting...can we possibly squeeze in a stop at City Lights Bookstore? I'm dying to see it, especially after rereading On the Road a few weeks ago. Fingers crossed...

I'm doing a whirlwind trip to a wedding in San Diego in two weeks too!
That sounds fantastic. I got to go to San Fran for the first time last August and I loved it. City Lights was just how I pictured it. There's an alley next to the bookstore that has quotes from San Fran authors engraved in the sidewalk, it's wonderful. Then there is also a bar, the Vesuvio, next to the bookstore where Kerouac and Ginsburg, etc. used to hang out. Make sure you have a drink there if you have time!
